THE STORY BEHIND THE ARTWORK
In the eyes of a child, Santa Claus is more than a beloved Christmas figure. He is majestic—a symbol of generosity, wonder, and the extraordinary goodness that lives within the human spirit.
In Majestic Santa, Larry Hersberger presents Santa as a noble and commanding figure, drawing upon the enduring legacy of Saint Nicholas, whose extraordinary acts of generosity earned him the name Wonderworker.
The wooden staff carries an almost biblical significance, symbolizing strength, faith, and the journey of giving. Surrounded by darkness, Santa follows the light from above—a quiet reminder that even in the darkest moments, goodness can illuminate the way.
Snowflakes dance around him like gentle companions on his journey, bringing a sense of enchantment to the painting's powerful spiritual undertones.
Majestic Santa depicts Cliff Snider, a 2012 inductee of the International Santa Claus Hall of Fame, recognized for his dedication to portraying Santa Claus and his philosophy of “Keeping Christ in Christmas.” His portrayal embodies the generosity, faith, and dignity at the heart of the Christmas tradition.
Majestic Santa is a celebration of the spirit of giving, the beauty of faith, and the timeless belief that one person's kindness can bring light into the lives of others.
THE ARTISTIC PROCESS
Majestic Santa is a 100% original, one-of-a-kind artwork, created through Larry Hersberger's distinctive multidisciplinary artistic process.
The artwork began with an original, personally directed photographic session featuring Cliff Snider, a 2012 inductee of the International Santa Claus Hall of Fame, who is the actual subject depicted in the painting.
The composition was printed onto fine art canvas and carefully sealed, creating the foundation for the oil painting. Larry then individually mixed his oil colors by hand and painted 100% of the visible canvas surface in oils, transforming the underlying composition into a richly textured, fully hand-painted original. A protective finishing treatment completed the artwork.
This is not a limited-edition print or reproduction. It is a singular original work of art, created through the union of original photography, artistic composition, and traditional hand-applied oil painting.
